By: MyBayCity Staff

The Michigan Small Business & Technology Development Center has announced a free Effective Customer Service & Business Communications seminar at Delta College, University Center, Michigan from 6 to 8:30 p.m. August 4, 2009.

Even though this is the communications age, too many communications leave the recipient making assumptions that lead to poor productivity, low morale, and worse.

Be clear, concise, and consistent in your message to internal and external customers of your business through proper and effective use of meetings, letters, memos, faxes, e-mails plus other activities and documents in communicating your business.

There will also be a free Starting a Business seminar at Michigan Works! in Standish on August 6, 2009 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. .

The seminar is for those who would like to start a small business or for those who would like to become acquainted with community and business resources.

Topics include what it takes to start a business, where to go for information and assistance, the business plan and why you need one, licenses and permits, funding and the myth of "free money," as well as resources available to help set up your business.

For more information about MI-SBTDC, resources, other seminars, or to register for this free seminar online, go to MISBTDC Training Website or call (989) 686-9597. Pre-registration is required.
