Bob Bloenk & Eric Jylha will entertain at the 3rd Annual History Cruise.

Eric Jylha, broadcaster and noted historical commentator, will headline the 3rd annual History Cruise 6-9 p.m. Tuesday Aug. 18.

The cruise aboard the Princess Wenonah this year will head South on the Saginaw River and inform cruisers of stories of . . .

  • the interurban disaster of 1897,

  • the history of James Clements Airport and

  • the incredible Legend of Crow Island, among other tales, according to Mr. Jylha.

Mr. Bloenk, a popular local entertainer, will chime in with songs with a local and historical flavor such as "Sleepy Time Gal," written by Saginawian Ange Lorenzo.

Each cruiser will receive a copy of the March/April Michigan History Magazine article entitled "Bay City's Colorful Past and Promising Future," furnished in cooperation with the Bay County Historical Society.

A light dinner will be served aboard the Princess and a cash bar will be available.

Door prizes will be awarded and a 50/50 drawing will be conducted.

Proceeds from the cruise go to the Bay County Historical Society and the 7th Michigan Cavalry Civil War Round Table for historical preservation purposes.

Tickets are $30 per person and are available for sale at the Bay County Historical Museum, 321 Washington Ave., or by phone at 893-5733.

The cruise departs from the Bay City Boatlines dock at the foot of 9th Street. Extensive parking is available near the dock.
