Matthew Stafford -- Lions' QB
Matthew Stafford has "swagger."
Stafford, rookie Detroit Lions QB led his team to their first win since December 2007 -- a 19-14 win over the Washington Redskins.
We all knew that the Lions would win sooner or later. But I came away from my three hour stint in front of the TV on Sunday with a genuine feeling that "I like Matthew Stafford."
The kid's got swagger. I couldn't help but smile as he bounced along the sidelines on his way back to the Lions' bench after every TD pass.
Losing the first two games to New Orleans (Drew Breese) and the Vikings (Bret Favre) was to be expected. After all, both these teams are 3-0 in the early going of the 2009 NFL Season.
Time will tell . . . But I Got a sneaky feeling we're all gonna be members of the Matthew Stafford Fan Club before the year is through.
Another case Of Bad Clock Management
Purdue coach Danny Hope's time out at the end of the ND-Purdue game gave the Irish an unexpected "extra play." QB Jimmy Clausen used the Purdue "gift" to throw a game-winning TD pass.
ND Coach Charlie Weis said in post-game interviews that he (Weis) was "surprised."
Weis must feel a kinship with the Purdue coach after it was Weis' tragic misuse of the clock against Michigan the cost the Irish the win at Ann Arbor.
Isn't there a book on time management that these coaches could read?
