Pay Attention Now . . . Car Insurance Is Free

Car Insurance Will Be Free (For Me) In Just Four Years

Watch The Ads . . . Do The Math

By: O. J. Cunningham

Like most families, the Cunninghams have two cars to insure each year.

Two cars . . . just about $1,200 a year for some pretty good low deductible, liability and collision coverage.

For the past 10 years or so . . . I have been buying my coverage from one of the local Independent insurance firms.

But lately, the barrage of insurance advertising on television has got me thinking that I may not be making an intelligent "buy" when it comes to insuring my vehicles.

For example . . . The Geico Lizard says he can save me 15% in about 15 minutes.

And . . . The All State "Good Hands" guy says he can save "anyone $396 bucks and if I got Geico . . . he can save me $473.

To add insult to injury, State Farm insists they can save me money no matter whom I'm insured with and still to be considered are Erin (Isn't she just the hottest girl on TV?) E-Surance and Flo from Progressive.

Everyone promises the lowest (or a lower) rate almost hourly in the middle of my TV viewing selection.

Let's put a pencil to all this insurance marketing gibberish.

FOLLOW ME ON THIS: If I pay $1,200 in 2010, and change to Geico . . . I save 15% and my annual billing drops to $1,000.

Next year, I switch to the "Good Hands" people and my bill drops to $527 for 2011.

Looking good so far . . .

Back to Geico in 2012 for another %15 percent off . . . and after the "Good Hands Discount" in 2013 . . . My payment is down to $103.

At that point (for 2014), I just contact both Erin e-Surance and Flo from Progressive and see which one of those "hotties" can cut the final $100 from my premium.

Bottom Line --- Car Insurance for two cars . . . ZERO DOLLARS. I guess this will certainly shut up the nay-sayers who claim there is no value in advertising.
