The Tri-City Icehawks fell one goal short of competing in the Lakes Cup Final Game falling to the Michigan Mountain in the semi final game.

The Icehawks got on the board first with a goal by Mitch Wood at 5:12 of the first period but the Mountain Cats answered back a minute and a half later with a goal of their own.

The Icehawks got back in the lead with a goal by Warren Carter later in the first period. The Mountain Cats started the second period on a power play after a questionable call against Ben Kitts for a high stick infraction. The Cats capitalized on the advantage to tie the score at 2 all.

Another questionable call 5 minutes later put the Mountain Cats back on a 5 to 4 man advantage. The Icehawks defended their goal for a minute and a half before the Mountain Cats found the back of the net to take the lead 3 to 2.

The score stayed this way until the Icehawks got a power play of their own after a vicious check from behind to Warren Carter put the opposing Michigan Team a man short.

The Icehawks capitalized on the advantage and tied the score when Seth Vandersypen scored with a slap shot from his defensive position.

The two teams battled back and forth in the third period until the Mountain Cats scored 7 minutes in to take the lead. Just over two minutes later the first place Mountain Cats scored again to go up by two.

The Icehawks kept battling and were rewarded when Mitch Wood scored his second of the day to pull within a goal with under 4 minutes to play.

The Hawks pulled their goalie at the 1:24 mark and attacked with six skaters but a unlucky rebound landed on the Mountain Cat player's stick who flipped it down the ice into the open net to end the season for the Icehawks. The Icehawks Goalie Austin Willenborg faced 32 shots in the game.
