Libraries across the nation offer Summer Reading Program (SRP) to encourage
and reward people of all ages just for reading for fun.
Each year a new
theme is chosen emphasizing ways in which reading expands minds and fosters
imagination. The 2010 themes are "Water Your Mind" for adults, "Make Waves
at Your Library" for teens and "Make a Splash - READ!" for children.
The Bay County Library System is very excited to offer a wide variety of
Summer Reading Program prizes, giveaways, performances and events. Now through July 31, 2010.
While
supplies last, everyone who signs up will receive a newly designed
earth-friendly book bag, courtesy of the Friends of the Bay County
Libraries.
Along the way, checkpoint coupons for children are awarded and
those who return completed reading logs (available at all branch library
service desks) by July 31, 2010 will be entered to win great prizes! To encourage
children, we offer additional logs and incentives.
For every additional log
completed, children are entered into a prize drawing! There's even a
Design-A-Bookmark contest for grades K-6!
Teens and adults aren't left out. In addition to a slate of cool crafts,
concerts and performers, teens who complete reading logs have the chance to
win one of five Apple iPods! With the rising number of adults joining in
the SRP fun, a number of adult craft nights are scheduled at each branch.
Make this summer one of reading, adventure, entertainment and learning at
your library!
Get a head start and increase your chance to win prizes.
Stop by your branch library or the Bookmobile for your reading log.
A
complete list of summer movies and performers, workshops and more is
available online at www.baycountylibrary.org.
