First Three Ships Coming In From Saginaw Bay

River Lined With People as Tall Ships Arrive

Every boat launch and other good viewing area had people

July 15, 2010
By: Stephen Kent

From mid-morning until evening people lined the banks of the Saginaw River to watch the Parade of Sail as the ships arrived in Bay City for the Tall Ship Celebration 2010. Some paid from $4 to $6 to park at public boat launches. Others found the free sites.

High winds prevented the boats from navigating the river under sail, but it was still a sight to see as the ships slowly motored the several miles from the mouth of the river to the center of town.

As the ships reached downtown, and fired cannon salutes, they were greeted by people on the bridges, the docks, at Waterfall Park, and at the seawall.
