Bay County Eyes Allocation of $3.1 Million Federal Bonds to Renosol Corp.
Local Firm Plans 125 More Jobs Over 5 Years to Manufacture Vehicle Springs

An estimated 125 jobs would be added to the local workforce under a $3.1 federal bond allocation by Bay County to the Renosol Corp., 691 River Road, Bay City.
The bonds would be financed under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), said Donald J. Tilley, chairman of the Ways and Means Committee of the Bay County Commission.
The commission will consider the allocation at its Tuesday meeting, along with a proposal to shift $616,000 for a Pinconning Township water extension to the west side of the I-75/Pinconning Road interchange, said Mr. Tilley.
The board is being asked to amend its allocation to provide water service to additional customers and properties. The previously approved project was for construction of a three mile long water line extension and improvements to the M-13 water main from Cody-Estey Road north to Bay-Arenac Road.
The township plans to relinquish the $134,000 balance of its $750,000 allocation, said Commissioner Tilley.
Renosol is proposing to re-equip its Bay City plant to manufacture composite leaf springs for vehicles using innovations in chemical polymer technology, according to officials of the firm.
The company has a prototype order from a Holland, Michigan, manufacturing facility. The project to manufacture glass reinforced polymer truck leaf springs would provide a 70 percent weight reduction, positively affecting fuel usage and carbon emissions.
The 125 jobs would be added over a five year period, according to the proposal.
In other agenda items, the commission and County Executive Thomas L. Hickner would recognize and publicly commend county employees Richard C. Pabalis, superintendent of buildings and grounds, and Brent Goik, recreation and clubhouse supervisor, for Michigan Works MVP (Most Valuable Player) awards.
A resolution by Commissioner Vaughn Begick also is being proposed to designate Sunday, Oct. 3 as Saginaw River Coast Guard Recognition Day in Bay County and encourage citizens to attend a ceremony at 3 p.m. that day at Zion Lutheran Church, 510 W. Ivy St.
