They had the fans hanging from the rafters at the State Theatre, and they ended up having the fans rocking from the rafters and the mosh pit of the theatre.

Yes, that was the story of the March, 2008 appearance of the Young Dubliners, and the Friends of Celtic Culture, a Great Lakes Bay Region non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of the arts and music of the Seven Celtic Nations, plans on having a replication of that event on Saturday, October 23, 2010.

$20 tickets are available at the State Theatre, 913 Washington Avenue, Bay City, Michigan, 989-892-2660 and on the FCC Website (friendsofcelticculture.org).

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The show starts at 7:30. Adult beverages will be available.

The Young Dubliners started out with a couple of Irish transplant musicians and a bunch of California rockers debuting on the L.A. music scene in the late 80s. They morphed into a septet by 2002 with co-founder Keith Roberts (vocals, guitar), fellow Dubliner Brendan Holmes (bass, vocals), and American-born members Bob Boulding (guitar, vocals), Chaz Waltz (violin, keyboards, harp, mandolin, vocals), and Dave Ingraham (drums, percussion).

The Young Dubs skyrocketed on the touring scene with large amphitheaters and Irish festivals being the typical venues. Their style developed a huge fan base that loved its Irish-flavored anthemic rock and rowdy pub songs.

Much of the Young Dubs' music is written by the band members themselves, indicating how the band works in collaboration. Saints and Sinners is their new release on 429 Records. The CD seamlessly blends the Young Dubs rock and Celtic influences into a high energy and lyrically poignant mix that draws from the band's past trials and tribulations of the past few years on the road.
