By: O. J. Cunningham
"We gotta do this again next year," smiled Jon Potrykus after his first fishing trip to the West side of Michigan in search of King Salmon. King Salmon enter Michigan tributaries on their annual spawning run in September. The spawning migration can last well into October. Angling for these large fish in the tight confines of a small river like the Betsie, the Muskegon or the Pere Marquette can be both great fun and a test of both fishing equipment and angler skill. Potrykus showedplenty of fishing skill as he fair-hooked and landed his limit of Chinook during an afternoon outing. Below:(Left)Potrykus fights a fair-hooked fish and (Right) Jon poses with netman Mark DeSanto and one of his fresh trophy chinook.
