The Tri-City Chorus of Sweet Adelines will honor America's troops with an Independence Day concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 29 at the State Theatre in Bay City.

The concert will reprise last year's performance by the group at the 2010 National Festival of the States in Washington, D.C.

Tickets are $5 and are available at the State Theatre ticket office, 913 Washington Avenue, 892-2660.

"We had the honor of singing for some of our country's heroes at Vinson Hall Retirement Center as well as on the marble steps leading up to the Jefferson Memorial," said Sweet Adelines webmistress LeAnn Hadley.

"While it was fun and unique, it was also very hard to sing in the sun. But we had a good turn out considering - and they hung with us and enjoyed our music. We were even blessed to have a group from Michigan happen by as well. You should ask our ladies about getting to perform at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts!

"Our tour guide took us through the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian, Arlington National Cemetery, and Ford Theater among other places. We got to see the Jefferson and Lincoln Memorials, along with most of the war memorials.

"I believe the highlight of our trip was having the honor of laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. That was awesome."

Director of the Sweet Adelines Tri-City Chorus is Pat Osborne of Auburn.
