Colleen Dore announced today that Stirling Wright has been hired as the new Head Coach (for 2011) of the TriCity IceHawks.

Dore said that Stirling Wright will be moving to the Tri City area within a few weeks to take on the full-time position of Head Coach.

"This move is necessary," Dore said, "if the IceHawks are going to remain competitive with the other teams in other Tier III leagues around the country."

Dore pointed out that to be competitive, we have to have a full-time coach that does nothing but train players and work solely for the success of the team.

"We know that Stirling Wright is exactly what the team needs to be successful and Stirling Wright will move our players to the next level of hockey," Dore said.

Stirling has been a very successful Coach and General Manager at every level of hockey from "learn to play" to the professional level in Europe and the USA.

He spent several years teaching players at the Washington Capitals training facility before moving to the Carolinas. He is formally trained as a Forensic Psychophysiologist and is a veteran of the US Navy Special Warfare Communications community.

Coach Stirling served on the Board of Directors for Carolina Amateur Hockey Association for USA Hockey as well as being the Hockey Director for Coastal Carolina Hockey Association. He is considered by many in the world of hockey to be one of the best hockey coaches around for players looking to make it to the next level.

His focus on developing players leads to his being in demand around the world to give seminars and coach other coaches on teaching the game in a fun way that players understand. Stirling was awarded the Master Level (5) Coaching Certification from USA Hockey in 1996.
