Twenty-one aspiring leaders in Bay County will graduate from the ten month Bay Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Bay County Institute on June 15.

This will be the 24th Class of Leadership Bay County, a program designed and managed by Your Bay Area Chamber of Commerce.

Now, Your Chamber is accepting applications for participation in the 2011-2012 Leadership Bay County program.

Leadership Bay County provides the knowledge and motivation needed by individuals involved in business, government and community organizations to lead our community in the future. Our knowledgeable and talented graduates are the vehicles by which positive change can occur in our community. They provide vision, motivation and skill to plan for the future and help build an even better Bay Area.

This exciting program is kicked off with a pre-program orientation, September 20th followed by a two-day retreat at the Ralph A. MacMullen Conference Center at Higgins Lake State Park. The Leadership retreat provides participants with a better understanding of leadership characteristics and the role of leaders.

The retreat also provides participants an opportunity to learn a comprehensive system for understanding individual differences, particularly participants own style of leadership. The retreat will be held Friday and Saturday, September 23-24. Full day sessions held during the ten month program include:

Agriculture in Bay County - October 19
History of the Bay Area - November 9
Human Needs & Services - December 7
Local Government - January 11
Economic Development - February 1
Education Bay County - March 7
Public Safety & the Legal System - April 4
Arts & Culture - May 2
Natural Resources - June 6

Graduation ceremonies for 2011-12 Class of Leadership Bay County is scheduled for June 13, 2012.

Leadership Bay County appeals to people of diverse backgrounds who have interest in the future of our community.
The curriculum is designed to help participants better understand our community.

Leadership Bay County requires full attendance and active participation.

Participants are also challenged to choose and execute a class project designed to improve the Bay Area.
