Bay Arts Council's Wednesdays in the Park Survives Rainstorm

ABBA Mania Performs For Huge Crowd After Storms Pass Overhead

This week's Bay Arts Council Wednesday in the Park was almost Wednesday under water.

But at the last minute, the skies cleared and the rain stopped just long enough for ABBA Mania to take the stage. The tribute band kept the people singing and dancing throughout the evening.

Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate for the opening act, Perry Woodard's School of Dance. The scheduled dance performance had to be canceled because of rain, but Woodard's dancers will be invited back on a date yet to be decided according to event organizers

People "flooded" into the downtown Bay City bandshell around 7:00pm as soon as the storm passed overhead and fanned out across Wenonah Park. By the size of the crowd, no one would have guessed that the radar showed storms circling the area. The hill was full and the vendors were hopping. Goodies for sale included homemade caramel corn, roasted nuts, soda and candy.

"The Bay Arts Council put on another great event," said Paul Everson from Bay City. "We enjoyed ABBA Mania, it was tons of fun for the whole family and we are already looking forward to the next concert," Everson added.

The concerts continue on July 6th with Groove Project and Hotel California, an Eagles Tribute Band. The Bay Arts Council Summer Series runs every Wednesday night at Wenonah Park Bandshell until August 3, 2011. Admission is free. For more information visit www.bayartscouncil.org
