"Well I remember the day that the bridge fell in . . . "

Remember the day the 3rd Street bridge in Bay City, Michigan fell in?

The Third Street Bridge collapsed in 1976 after opening to allow the passing of a lake freighter. The location on the east side of Bay City is now home of the Third Street Waterfall Park.

Bay City Native George Heritier, singer/songwriter of Acoustic American Roots Music, wrote a Ballad of The Third Street Bridge the same year the bridge fell in, 1976 and Recorded it the following year, 1977. Heritier was 26 at the time.

Heritier said, "I always enjoy coming back to Bay City to visit family and friends. It's clean and quiet here, which I like. I'd like to play music in the Bay City area again."

Heritier re-lives those days as he performs his Ballad of The Third Street Bridge during a recent visit in July (2011) to Bay City.
