The cold Michigan weather has arrived and there are children in our community in need of a warm winter coat.
Do-Care Family Enrichment Center, a program of Do-All, Inc., is again coordinating the Coats for Kids program in Bay County. While 1,000 children received coats in 2010, more than 1,400 children have indicated a need for coats this year ? this represents a 40% increase!
?The increased need for coats is very significant to what is going on in our local economy,? according to Kristal Corrion, Program Manager. ?Families are having a difficult time paying their rent, much less providing warm winter coats for their children.
?Coats are needed in all sizes from 3T through adult sizes for older teens, but the sizes in greatest demand are for sizes 6 through 14 for boys and 6 through 12 for girls. Donations of new and gently-used coats are accepted for the program at Do-Care Family Enrichment Center, 711 Ninth St and the Cat?s Meow Thrift Store in Essexville (directly behind McDonald?s).
Other coat drop locations include all branches of the Bay County Library System, Bay City Mall ? Target wing.
Thumb National Bank branches, FinancialEdge Credit Union branches and Independent Bank branches.Monetary donations to help purchase coats may be mailed to Do-All, Inc.,1400 S. Lincoln, Bay City, MI 48708.
