It was a chilly morning heading into the Chamber's Eye Opener breakfast held recently at Bay Valley Hotel and Resort.
(Left) Emcee, Eric Jylha reassured everyone that temperatures were gonna heat up not only that day but also the rest of the week! The near mention of the recent hype of the Detroit Lions & Tigers brought the crowd to a roar!
The Guest Speaker was Terence Moore, President of GLBR Alliance. Topic of presentation focused on the potential of the Great Lakes Bay Region.
At the direction of the GLBRA Board Directors, the Alliance undertook a strategic planning process to identify priorities and programs for the next three years.
Operating in an extraordinary time of economic uncertainty, but also a time of great opportunity, the Alliances seeks to maximize its impact as it looks to build a stronger, more efficient and effective regional Community. Moore, said, "Our objective is to improve the quality of life for people in our region."
In the process of developing the plan, members of the Alliance affirmed their belief in the value and benefits of regional collaboration, Moore explained.
Those benefits include:
A greater ability to affect improvements in the business environment
The opportunity to improve job creation and other attributes of economic development
Having a stronger voice at all levels of government
Better access to funding and other resources
The Opportunity to coordinate an impressive array of regional resources
The ability to move best practices and organization across county lines
The opportunity to better promote a regional brand in ways that would not be possible at the city or county
