Senior Staff

On Sunday morning at the Bay City Mall, from 9:00am to noon, members of the community had the opportunity to record a special holiday greeting for the troops.

Josh and Shawn from Last Choice Country Radio recorded Holiday Greetings for anyone who wanted to send a message to the troops that will be deployed over the holidays. These greeting are available to listen to on www.lastchoicecountry.com and also will be published in an upcoming issue on mybaycity.com.

Melissa Alex from the Yellow Ribbon Guard was on hand to accept collections and donations for the 'Send Santa to the Troops' campaign.

Alex also had holiday cards available for anyone who wanted to send a message in a card. Alex said, "We contacted local military families and told them we would be recording today, it gives them and the community an opportunity to come out, make a donation and show our troops how much we appreciate all they do to protect and serve for our Freedom."

Alex said, "I feel it is everyone's responsibility to let our troops know we are thinking of them, and to thank them for defending our country and our freedom, whether it is a donation or a message or volunteering your time." There are some soldiers who do not have family, and don't have anyone sending them care packages, this means a lot specially to them who have no family or friends. Alex added, "Last year the cost for shipping was $16,000 to send the care packages to the troops." "Every little donation helps."

Last Choice Country Radio will be at Great Lakes Power Sports in Flint next Saturday, November 19, 2011 recording more messages from 11:00am to 1:00pm for the troops."

People who wish to record a message for the troops can also call into Last Choice Country Radio at 989-414-1208
