School Tours@ Thumb Octagon Barn Mission statement: "Today, Everyday...Educating... Improving...Renovating ...Working....To Save History For Tomorrow's Future!"

Educators, sign up now to reserve a date and time for your students to attend the 17th annual School Tours at Thumb Octagon Barn, Gagetown. This educational field trip - for PreSchool Through 8th Grade Students - allows the children to participate in up to 24 of stations, based on age/grade levels, that depict rural Michigan in the early 1900's.

There will also be lots of live farm animals in the Barn! The guided tours will be held during the school day on Wednesday, May 9th, Thursday, May 10th, and Friday, May 11th. Tours take about 4 1/2 hours, but shorter tours can be scheduled to meet the needs of the students and their schedules; each student/chaperone brings their own lunch/beverage.

Tours begin at 8:30 AM and every half hour thereafter with last tour at 1 PM each day. Donation is $2.00 per student and each chaperone. Themes for the 17th annual School Tours are the Potato Industry and Country Schools. In 2011, over 1150 students took part in the educational guided tours!

Using web site, (thumboctagonbarn.org) reserve a time for your students to attend; go to "Events," then scroll down to School Tours 2012, fill out form and e-mail it. OR contact: Diane Rapson Gabil, chairperson, School Tours 2012, (drapsongabil@chartermi.net or 989-892-3105)

Also additional volunteers are always desired to help with a variety of jobs needed to make the educational trip for the students even better! Contact Diane for more information.
