Snow Much Fun!

Cold weather, Ice and Snow equates to FUN!

It's been one of those winters, a real temperature roller coaster. Saturday January 22 saw an Alberta Clipper blow through with sub zero readings, too much snow, and winds causing whiteout conditions that lead to a 10 car pile up on Vet's Bridge. The storm continued to blow through the North East states and made life miserable for many.

Sunday was a whole different story! It was cold but the sky was crystal clear. Where the 10 car pileup had snarled traffic the day before, entire families were out on the bridge slopes having a great time. On the river the ice fishermen were out for the opening of the annual "Shiver on the River" Walleye tournament.

Of course there's more to snow than having fun. At some point you have to dig out. Snowblowers all over the city were in roaring away as citizens cleared the walks and drives. For enterprising kids, snow can also means extra spending cash. It only takes about an hour to clear most driveways and sidewalks and who wouldn't pay $10 to $15 to get that done by someone else.
