Intrusive Cashiers

July 1, 2012
By: Josh Sharrow

I'm not sure if it's just me or not, but this really irritates me. I stopped at the local grocery store the other day to pick up a few things for dinner. We were having salad . . . save your fat jokes.

I have the normal salad items: Lettuce, Tomato, Green Pepper blah blah blah. The lady in front of me (not kidding) has toilet paper and hot dogs in her cart.

So its my turn to check out and the cashier said in true "here's your sign" fashion.

"Ahhh...having salad for dinner are we?"

Is she trying to make small talk? Trying to compliment me on making a better food choice? Trying to be friendly? I'm not sure, I think she's just a nosy cashier.

If she was trying to make small talk why wouldn't she have asked the girl in front of me with hot dogs & toilet paper . . . "Husband out of town?"

Just a word to my cashier friends, stop trying to analyze what people are having for dinner!

It irritates me.
