Something Is Brewing on Wednesday Night at Tri City Brewery

Matt de Heus had an idea.

De Heus went looking for a place where musicians and poets could gather, have a few drinks and share an evening with men and women looking for the same kind of entertainment.

Joe Hackett, Supervisor at the Tri City Brewing Company, was looking for some entertainment at his Brew House.

De Heus and Hackett matched up . . . and now, de Heus has found a home for his idea at Tri City Brewing, on Water Street in Bay City.

"The idea is to rotate fresh faces and different musicians on a weekly basis," de Heus said during a break on a recent Wednesday night. "But anyone is welcome to come and make music with us," de Heus went on. "Or just come on out and read a poem."

According to de Heus, on any given Wednesday, you might be able to hear the musical talents of any of the following: Jon Potrykus, Amelia Jo, Shannon and EricJ or Earl Squerl.

"I think the concept might be best explained by using the analogy of a rope," de Heus explained. "We're (the musicians) all part of the rope," de Heus went on. "You just never know what section of the rope will be on display on any given Wednesday.

Hackett says, "Everybody's welcome to come and play music or just sit, sip and listen."

"Tri City Brewing is open from 4:00pm to 10:00pm," Hackett explained. "We have last call at 9:30pm," he went on. "We're happy to give these guys/gals a place to play."
