Bay Arts Council Receives Donation From Bay Area Community Foundation.

The Bay Arts Council's Wednesdays in the park will be a little brighter this year due to a $2,500 donation from The Bay Area Community Foundation.

The Bay Area Community Foundation recently donated a total of $9,780 to The Bay Arts Council & First Thursdays Gallery Walk. The Bay Arts Council has partnered with The First Thursdays Gallery Walk to provide the Gallery Walk a "non-profit umbrella".

"With the increased concert attendance we had to add things like porta-potties and sinks to accommodate attendees, said Matthew Reid, Executive Director of The Bay Arts Council. "This added an extra cost to the production," Reid continued. Reid went on to say that there has also been an increase in the rate at the hotel where performing musicians stay. "A $20 rate increase may not seem like a lot but we will be paying for 29 rooms for our guests and that all adds up," Reid continued.

The Bay Arts Council plans to hold 7 FREE CONCERTS at Bay City's Wenonah Park this summer. "This grant will help us with additional expenses from the concerts, and will allow us to keep these concerts free to the public." said Reid.
