SAGINAW STING DEFEAT THE DAYTON SILVERBACKS 35-7

The Saginaw Sting won their second consecutive Indoor Football League Championship at the Dow Event Center with an impressive 35-7 win over the Dayton Silverbacks.
Before a franchise record crowd of 3,850 approving fans, the Sting held the Silverbacks to just one point in the second half. After a 21-6 lead at half, the Silverbacks scored just the one point when they held the Sting in the end zone on the opening kick off in the second half.
Sting quarterback Tommy Jones, the likely league MVP, completed 22 of 35 pass attempts for a total of 200+ yards to lead the Sting victory.
Jeff Austin caught nine Jones' spirals for 117 yards and 4 touchdowns. Charles Tarver had 4 receptions (48 yards) and Keith Bartynski caught a TD pass and had 7 total catches and 35 receiving yards on the night.
In the game that saw the Sting completely dominate the line of scrimmage and flow of the game. The Silverbacks came close at the end of the game to scoring but turned the ball over on downs.
The Saginaw Sting then ran out the clock and gave the loud crowd something to cheer about.
Last year the Saginaw Sting won the United Indoor Football League title. This season found the Sting playing in a different league. The six team league struggled at times but finished out the season and gave the City of Saginaw a second Indoor Football Championship.
