Glenn's Zach Fylling Named Bowling All American For 2012

Only 5 male and 5 female High School Bowlers are chosen each year.

It was announced this week that Zach Fylling was selected for the Dexter/USBC High School All-American Bowling Team for the second year in a row.

Fylling will receive a scholarship plus an award for this achievement. Presentation will be in Indianapolis in mid-July. Award is based on Bowling Accomplishments, Academic Achievements and Volunteer Work.

Only 5 male and 5 female High School Bowlers are chosen each year.

Last season more than 50,000 students took to the lanes at thousands of schools across the country offering high school bowling competition. In the last decade, participation in high school bowling has nearly tripled.

Under the guidance of the USBC High School program, varsity high school bowling currently exists in 19 states and at the club level in another 28 states.

During the 2007-08 season, more than 52,000 students competed at 4,656 schools that offered high school varsity bowling competition. In fact, bowling was the largest-growing high school sport in the 2007-08 school year, continuing a decade-long trend, according to the most recent National Federation of State High School Associations participation survey.

Zach Fylling High School Bowling Accomplishments -

  • Two time Dexter/USBC High School All-American (only bowler in Michigan to receive this award),
  • Bowlers Journal International High School Top 30 Prospects,
  • Detroit Free Press State of Michigan Dream Team ,
  • Mr Bowler Finalist ,
  • State Singles Champ in 2011,
  • State Team Championship in 2010,
  • State Team Runner up in 2012,
  • All-State Academic Team 2012,
  • Regional Team Champs 4 years in a row,
  • Member of the only sanction Baker 300 game for John Glenn,
  • Average 210 for 189 games during his high school career.

    Zach Fylling High School Academic Accomplishments -

  • Academic - 3.8 GPA,
  • National Honor Society member,
  • Academic High Achievement 4 straight years.
  • Academic All- State Team 2012,
  • Student of the semester twice.
  • Tutors High School students one day a week after school.

    Fylling will be attending University of Pikeville in Kentucky starting August, 2012. He will be a member of the bowling team while studying Pre-Med. See Related Article on MLive
