People from all over the tri-cities were in attendance on Wednesday night for Wednesdays in the Park in beautiful downtown Bay City.

What started as a gloomy Wednesday afternoon turned in to an absolutely gorgeous evening as the weather was perfect to welcome two acts from out of town in to the tri-city area.

Cougar Ace was the first on stage, performing some great rock tunes to bring in the growing crowd. The duo out of Northern Kentucky put on a great show for all, despite the audio issues that they seemed to be having at the Friendship Shell.

During a short intermission between acts, guests were encouraged by Matt Reid, member of the Bay Arts Council, to visit some of the different stands located around the park. Food vendors from local restaurants and merchandise from local artists were all readily available.

After the short break, Doug Varty and his Rod Stewart tribute band took the stage. The band made their way to Bay City all the way from London, Ontario. Taken from the Wednesdays in the Park program - "Just like Rod, wherever he performs, Doug Varty makes the stage (and the surrounding area) his playground."

Which is absolutely true. Varty was all over the stage, and didn't waste any time making the entire park a part of his performance. During the opening song he was down in the audience, encouraging them to sing along, even putting the microphone in some of their faces. "It's about creating something special," said Varty, "something memorable. Rod's the minister of fun and he knows how to show an audience a good time. That's what I do."

Wednesdays in the Park will be on hiatus this coming week in lieu of the national holiday, but will be back with the Shining Star Dance Academy, Abraxas (a Santana tribute band), and Riviera Paradise (a Stevie Ray Vaughn tribute band) on Wednesday July 11th.

I was at this show and it was a good time for all who was there Doug really put on a great show. But I'd like to see more Blues bands be brought out to do these thingd like me and my band. How and who I talk to about doing this thing?
Agree? or Disagree?
