The Bay County Library System is excited to bring you the folk music powerhouse duo 'Jackie and Gary' in two great music programs for children and adults on Tuesday, August 14 at the Auburn Area Branch Library, 235 W. Midland Rd. in Auburn.! Children in grades K-8 are invited to the Grow to be Great Music Program at 1:00 pm (registration required at 662-2381, option #4). They'll enjoy storytelling, music, acting, improvisation, Native American sign language and much more in this fun-filled interactive program! Then, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, adults are invited to "Singing the Good Old Songs Again" where classic and original folk songs are combined in an energetic, entertaining and fun show! Audience interaction, participation and humor, along with personal insight and stories, compliment the songs Jackie and Gary sing.

Many may remember Jackie Davidson as one of the original members of the Grammy award-winning group 'The New Christy Minstrels.' Also, as a former member of the duo 'Jackie and Gayle,' Jackie had a career in movies, television commercials and show business. Jackie has performed at the White House and Carnegie Hall, and on The Red Skelton Show, Hullabaloo, Shindig and The Tonight Show.

Gary Brandt is a popular folklorist, singer and songwriter. A retired educator and coach, Gary has shifted his career to performing full time. He has composed music and performed for such venues as TV 2 Detroit, National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Chrysler Omni Arts and his multi-media program "Land To The West," which has seen over 300 performances across he country. Gary's song "Somewhere In Montana" has been featured in western poetry publications. Gary carries on the tradition of folk music with a 12 string guitar, a good song, a humorous story and a voice that reflects the rich tradition of American Folk Music.

There is no charge to attend either program. For more information about this and other programs at the Bay County Library System, visit
