[Whether it be enjoying a great band, art or partaking in one of Michigan's many summer festivals, there is certainly not a lack of places to go and events to attend in our area. Stay tuned weekly to mybaycity.com. Every Thursday, I'll give you my take on some fun things to do and where my travels might take me!]

So...what's on my agenda for this weekend?? Well, let's see...

This weekend I will be piggish.

That is, piggish for all the music and fun at Labadie PIG GIG 2012, who will usher in their 20th year of festivities! Between PIG GIG and River Roar, it's my two favorite weekends of the summer for live music in Bay City, MI.

The music line up is great again this year with 'The Spin Doctors' playing Thursday, August 2nd. Thursday also happens to be 'Chamber' night in the beer tent.

If you are a Chamber member, go to www.baycityarea.com to print out a coupon for the Chamber reception which starts at 5:00pm. It offers free admission to the PIG GIG and special prices for 2 drinks.

Friday will be rocking when Winger and Trapt, respectively, take the stage. Winger, formed in New York City in the 80's, is known for hits, "Seventeen" and "Madalaine" amongst others.

Trapt, who were high-schoolers in the mid 90's, formed the band in 1997 and currently have five albums to date and are probably best know for songs, "Headstrong" and "Echo".

Saturday, former American Idol contestant, Scotty McCreery performs and on Sunday, 'Diamond Rio' finishes out the weekend of entertainment.

Also, thru-out the festival enjoy Michigan bands such as, Lester Bangs, Mandi Layne, Which Doctors, The Sinclairs, Matt Ryan Band, Jodi Sasse and The Juice Roosters.

For those of you that want to stay on the east side of town, visit 1st Thursday's Downtown Gallery Walk in Downtown Bay City. Stroll the galleries and enjoy original art thru-out the downtown area.
