Three McLaren Bay Region employees were recognized during the August 8th management meeting for their heroic efforts in the community. Bay Stars are McLaren Bay Region and McLaren Bay Special Care employees, volunteers and/or physicians who demonstrate exceptional care and concern for their fellow human beings.
The adrenaline rush of being in the 2012 St. Patrick's Day Race in Bay City, hometown crowd, friends and family all around. That's what Libby Sirianni, RN, 5 East; Debbie Suchodoloski, RN, 5 East and Chuck Palm, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Respiratory Care, were planning to do that day -- run the race.
However, during the race, a man collapsed in front of Ms. Sirianni. According to her, he looked like he was having a seizure. 911 was called, but while they were waiting for them to respond, the man stopped breathing. CPR was then performed and he was revived before EMS or the police arrived. Ms. Suchodolski and Mr. Palm, who were also running in the race, assisted in the rescue effort.
They fought the good fight for the patient -- and Libby, Debbie and Chuck went on to finish the other race. Congratulations to all!
They received a Bay Star pin, framed certificate, a tote bag and a $50 Bay Pride E-shop certificate. The recognition took place at the July 11 management meeting at the Lincoln Center.
