National Library Card Month Offers Opportunities
September 9, 2012
By: Mary Ruthko
September is Library Card Sign-up Month. All month long the Bay County Library System will be encouraging people of all ages to stop by and sign up for a new or replacement library card - for free!
With school now started, don't forget the most important school supply of all - the smartest card - a library card! It provides students with access to the universe of print and electronic resources. It is an essential tool for inspiring a passion for learning.
Libraries and librarians are on the frontlines of engaging students, helping them with homework and research and activities that add value to their educational experience. During September, kids twelve and under who show their card at their children?s services desk will receive a special prize!
The library also offers a wide range of tools for adults looking to learn new skills by helping them complete online job applications, providing access to job databases and other online resources, and helping them to create resumes and cover letters. During September, adults and teens can get a new or replacement card, or show us your current card to enter a drawing for a gift card!
Use the smartest card at your library and see all the wonderful things it has to offer! Visit
