The Westown Theatre on Midland St. in Bay City, MI was rocking for a great cause on Saturday, September 22, 2012 as host to the Bay City Elks Club #88 fundraiser
'Rock The Charities 2012'.
Headliners
'Like A Storm' who hail from New Zealand and are now based in Vancouver, brought in fans from as far away as Indiana and made many new fans as well.
The hard hitting rockers which include Chris, Matt and Kent Brooks, gave the crowd an acoustic treat during their show with the song
'Galaxy'. It was originally written in tribute for their grandmother who had passed away while on tour a few years ago. The passing of their 97 year old grandfather this week, once again held meaning for the three brothers, as they encouraged show-goers to sing along Saturday night.
Bassist, Kent Brooks remarked after the show, "Thanks SO much for an amazing night! Cant wait to see you all next time!"
Show openers Joey Atchinson, Xplode and Toyz, got the crowd going and the rocking band Chop House, which includes Elks Club Exalted Ruler, Eric Mulholland, also played an amazing set prior to
Like a Storm hitting the stage.
'Rock The Charities 2012' was a great success thanks to organizer and Elks Club member, George Lynch and many others who helped promote the event and sell tickets.
Lynch summed up the evening by saying, "What a great night, there was awesome music and I was glad to see so many people come from all around." He added, "A heartfelt thank you to all who helped the Elks support a fantastic cause. Thank you goes to all the performers, Joey Atchinson, The Toyz, Xplode, Chop House and last but not least, our main act, Like a Storm.
The Elks chose the
Yellow Ribbon Guard as recipients of the proceeds for the evening. The Yellow Ribbon Guard helps out soldiers in need, with a variety of services, upon returning from deployment.
