Coats for Kids Drive is Underway

The cold Michigan weather is around the corner and
there are children in our community in need of a
warm winter coat.
Do-Care Family Enrichment
Center, a program of Do-All, Inc., is again
coordinating the Coats for Kids program in Bay
County. While nearly 1,200 children received
coats in 2011, more than 1,400 children have
indicated a need for coats this year.
"Many local families are struggling to make ends
meet," according to Kristal Corrion, Program
Manager. "They are having a difficult time paying
their rent and utilities, much less providing warm
winter coats for their children."
Coats are needed in all sizes from 3T through
adult sizes for older teens, but the sizes in
greatest demand are for sizes 6 through 14 for
both boys and girls. "Warm winter coats are a
necessity for children, as they are required to go
outside for recess every day and they need to have
a winter coat to keep them warm," said Corrion.
Donations of new and gently-used coats are
accepted for the program at Do-Care Family Enrichment Center, 711 Ninth St. and the Cat's
Meow Thrift Store in Essexville (directly behind
McDonald's).
Other coat drop locations include
all branches of the Bay County Library System, Bay
City Mall - Target wing, Thumb National Bank
branches, Financial Edge Credit Union branches and
Independent Bank branches.
Monetary donations to help purchase coats may be
mailed to Do-All, Inc., 1400 S. Lincoln, Bay City,
MI 48708.
