Thinking Out Loud
Got It?

"Any fool can know. The point is to understand." ~ Albert Einstein

Most days I'm a self-admitted fool, not a scholar. I know a lot, but understand little.

I spend a fair amount of time on the road driving. When I do, my mind tends to wander. Recently, I started keeping a list of things that I don't get.

They are not anything earth shattering and understanding their nature won't change the quality of my world to any great degree.

There are a few things I just don't get.

I don't get why the sun shining on my head while I'm in a car gives me a headache. Yet by spending several hours on a sunny beach I can actually rid myself of one.

I don't get why just as soon as the leaves on the trees turn their most beautiful range of colors in the Fall, we have massive winds come in to blow them off.

I don't get why I can lift 50lb boxes an entire day, yet hurt my back sneezing.

I don't get why when I wait for an important phone call, it won't come thru until I have just sat down to dinner, lowered myself into a bathtub or am in the middle of an exercise DVD.

I don't get why some days my teenage son thinks I'm the coolest, best mom around and other days I'm just...well... not.

I don't get why when my grass needs cutting, the weekdays are beautiful, but the weekend, when I can actually get to it, is pouring rain.

I don't get why the price of gas goes down the day after I filled up.

I don't get why 4 months of winter seems a lifetime and 4 months of summer seems over in the blink of an eye.

I wish I were intelligent enough to comprehend more. To grasp all the little things that play a part of life. To have knowledge of the questions I am continually posing upon myself.

There are many things I don't understand in life.

Maybe it would be easier and kinder on myself, to simply let the quest go and just know a few things and be the fool, not the scholar.

On second thought...Nah...
