By the time the most current performance of Late Night Catechism ended . . . "Sister" had a good percentage of the crowd up on stage with her -- re-enacting the Nativity Scene in Bethlehem at the birth of Jesus on the first Christmas.

Karen Sheridan, as "Sister" from Late Night Catechism, strolled the stage at Bay City's State Theatre to the laughs and applause of a full house as she exchanged banter with an appreciative audience gathered to enjoy the Christmas holiday version of Late Night Catechism .

Who Stole the Magi's Gold?
After an hour of give and take pertaining to the Catholic traditions of the Christmas season, "Sister" got down to the business of the day.

"Sister" interviewed audience members for the better part of an hour as she selected Mary, Joseph, the Little Drummer Boy, a Shepherd, an Oxen, an Ass (Donkey) and of course . . . Three Guys From Out of Town -- The three (Magi) Kings.

After each selection, "Sister" dressed each cast member befitting their part in the evening's performance.

The out-of-town Kings . . . often referred to only as "any three guys from out-of-town . . . had traveled from Caseville, Gladwin and (poetically) . . . from Hope, Michigan.

With the help of a choir, accompanied by pianist Mike Bacigalupo, the audience sang Christmas carols as "Sister"spun a tale of thievery involving the missing gold from the presents brought by the the three Kings.

"We know what happened to the Frankincense and Myrrh," "Sister" pointed out."But what about the gold? Who pocketed the gold?"

After dressing her characters for their respective parts and arranging them around the Baby Jesus in His crib, "Sister" worked her magic and systematically uncovered the thief who filched the gold.

All's well . . . that ends well . . .

Karen was in the second national tour of "Into the Woods" and has taught at a number of schools including Ringling Brothers Clown College. She dons the habit thanks to Late Night Catechism's original "Sister," Maripat Donovan, who once shared a candy bar with her, then raised her hand and said, "Sister, Karen has candy!"
