Thinking Out Loud
Wouldn't It Be Nice?

2013 Is Going To Be Great

"Wouldn't it be nice if we were older
Then we wouldn't have to wait so long
And wouldn't it be nice to live together
In the kind of world where we belong "
The Beach Boys

I have a lot of hopes for the year 2013.

I hope I can save money enough to go to Norway.

Or Up North.

One of the two, anyway.

I hope this is the year I can get my despicable looking lawn (if one could call it that) under control.

Between the incessant grubs, the drought, the contractors putting in a new sidewalk this fall and my general, overall lack of motivation, my front yard looks more like a mud bog pit than a putting green.

To say the least.

I hope I can organize my time more effectively, so I can spend more of it doing the things I love, like writing. And less of it doing the things I hate, like cleaning the bathtub.

I hope my friend makes it big musically, so I can say "I knew him when" and that he becomes great friends with Brandon Boyd of the band Incubus.

Not that I'd expect introductions or anything...

I hope my game improves and I can golf in something other than just Scrambles, where best ball rules. I've been hiding under that protective cloak for too many years.

Guess that means the driving range and I will need to become better pals this year.

Speaking of that, I hope we get a lot of great golfing weather in 2013. (Or boating, camping, beach, baseball, cook-out..well, you get the picture)

And for heaven's sake, I hope the NHL has a season in 2013, so my son can return to his happy "I love to watch hockey" demeanor!

I hope for a lot of things in the coming year, including the standards like peace, success, good health and love. So, please don't think me superficial for the 2 things that happen to be on the top of my 2013 list:

I hope 25 pounds goes AWOL, never to be found again and I hope a favorite high-heeled boot, on it's 3rd season now of "gone missing" from the pair, shows up.

Now, wouldn't that be nice?

I am enjoying your articles... I am a publisher of a small town newspaper... in Vanderbilt, MI...
Keep up the great work... and if you would like to have an article published... like the one that I just read... want to go to Norway or up North.. I liked that. Let me know.
