McLaren Physicians Receive Board Certifications

McLaren Bay Region physicians have recently received the following board certifications. Board certification demonstrates to the public that physicians have met the highest standards within their chosen specialties.

  • Tazeen Ahmed, MD has successfully earned his Board Certification in Hospice and Palliative Care from the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). Dr. Ahmed specializes in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics at Great Lakes Medical Center at two locations: 2110 16th Street, Suite 4, Bay City (989) 891-9000 and 805 W. Cedar Street, Standish (989) 846-3545.


  • The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc. (ABPN) has granted certification in Vascular Neurology to Mohammed Al-Qasmi, MD, Neurologist and Director of the Stroke Program at McLaren Bay Region. Vascular neurology entails subspecialization in the evaluation, prevention, treatment and recovery from vascular diseases of the nervous system.


    This subspeciality includes the diagnosis and treatment of vascular events of arterial or venous original from a large number of causes that affect the brain or spinal cord, such as ischemic stroke, intracranial hemorrhage, spinal cord ischemia and spinal cord hemorrhage.   • Ravi Lakkaraju, MD, specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, is now board certified in four subspecialties with the recent addition of his certification Neuromuscular Medicine. His other certifications include Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pain Management, and Sports Medicine.   • The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc (ABPN) has granted certification in Neuromuscular Medicine to Khalil Nasrallah, MD, Neurologist at McLaren Bay Neurology.
