Bangor Township Hall To Host Senior Driving Program
A Mature Driving Program for seniors 55 years of age and over is slated on June 27, 28 and 29 at Bangor Township Hall.
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of United Way of Bay County is sponsoring the program.
Computer simulators will test for break time, peripheral vision and reaction time.
Seniors receive information on driving in busy traffic, when is the best time to travel, where the busiest intersections are located and tips for easier parking. The cost of this program is $20, which includes all materials and lunch.
According to Michigan Safe Communities ACTS (Assessing Community Traffic Safety) there have been 112 Bay County residents, age 70 or over, killed or seriously injured in automobile accidents based on data from 1998 through 2002.
RSVP and United Way of Bay County aim to help senior citizens in Bay County become safer drivers, enabling them drive longer and remain independent.
Registration is due byJune 24 and limited 20 participants. To register, please contact Cathy McFarland, 893-6060.
