The Bay City Electric Department urges customers to stay away from downed power lines as lines that appear dead can be deadly.

City of Bay City's power restoration team is continuing to work around the clock to repair damage from the forceful wind and rain storm that hit the Bay County region last Friday.

Thus far, 85% of the 10,000 storm-related service interruptions that occurred have been restored. The Bay City Electric Department expects to complete the remaining 15% of its service restoration work by the end of this week. The Bay City Electric Department urges customers to stay away from downed power lines as lines that appear dead can be deadly. Customers should call 894-8360 to report downed power lines or other hazardous situations.

The City's public works crew is working two shifts to pick up the piles of storm debris along many streets starting in the south end of Bay City and working north. Residents and business owners are encouraged to move downed tree limbs and brush into the outlawn area between the street and the sidewalk for removal by the City. The City cannot remove downed trees or stumps from trees located on private property.
