Every once in awhile, you just get lucky.

Like . . . Being in the right place at the right time . . . That kind of thing.

Like a rainbow . . . or maybe a breathtaking sunset.

I've been lucky.

Back in 2009, I got to see the early singing performances by a perky, little blonde high-schooler . . . during a crowd-pleasing series of Michigan Idol Karaoke competition on Wednesday nights at the Stables on Bay City's West Side.

I know for a fact that she didn't win the first year . . . and maybe not even the second time around. But she just kept singing and performing . . . getting better, older more mature and better each day.

Back in the day, I was covering the Wednesday night fun at Stables for MyBayCity. We were just starting to shoot video mini-clips for articles about the singers in the Michigan Idol competition.

I'll always remember the first time I filmed Taylor (Dani) Vitany during the Idol competition.

She saw the camera . . . and just "lit it up."

I remember the "twinkle" in her eye and the "smile" in her voice. And I remember how much she just loved being on stage, on camera and performing.

Taylor's family group, (especially her mother Deb) was always at her table, cheering her and supporting her little girl as Taylor slugged it out for singing recognition at the Stables Michigan Idol competition against a more veteran and older group of competitors..

Vitany has been singing since she was a little girl and it was about five years ago when she decided to pursue it as a career.

In 2009 Vitany eventually won the Michigan Idol Contest -- following in the footsteps of 2007 country singer Steve Armstrong.

Now, she's "all growed up" and is better known as Dani Vitany -- she's just about to turn 21 years -- and she sings with a band called "Ten Hands Tall."

I got to see the young Miss Vitany at the Wenona Bandshell during a recent Wednesday Night in the Park . . . performing as lead vocal for Ten Hands Tall.

She'll turn 21 on August 31st this month. But the little girl with the big voice is already much older than her years -- a seasoned veteran -- a talent with the potential to make it big on the National music scene.
