Wackerle-Wittbrodt Claim 45th Annual Paddleball Turkey 'Open' Title

Bay City's Pat O'Shea and Saginaw's Mitch Larson Win 'A' Bracket

The Dow Bay Area Family Y hosted the 45th Paddleball Turkey Tournament this past week-end.

Eighteen players gathered at the four glass-back courts to determine the 2013 champions.

Tournament Director for the event was Dave Wilson.

This marked the first year that two divisions were recognized. The Open and A players had separate brackets.

In the Open Division, Bay City's Randy Wackerle teamed with Essexville's Scott Wittbrodt to go undefeated in the tourney. This marks Wackerle's 12th Turkey title and Wittbrodt's third.

With this win Wackerle has racked up FIFTY tournament titles with 31 different partners.

Second place in the Open Division saw Bay City's Greg Keenan and Adam Koehler finish with one loss.

In the A Division Bay City's Pat O'Shea and Saginaw's Mitch Larson went undefeated to dominate that bracket. There was a 3-way tie for second place.

Wackerle last won the Dow Family Y Turkey Tournament in 2002. Sandy DeGreif holds the record for the most years between wins at the annual Turkey Tournament. DeGreif won in 1986 - and then 23 years later in 2009.

DeGreif won in 1986 with Bob Estabrook and in 2009 with Scott Carmona.
