Veterans Day At The Edson

November 11, 2013
By: Marcie Cervantes

A tribute to Veterans was held today at the USS Edson in Bay City.

People gathered even in the rain and snow on this November day to remember loved ones that have made it home, the families of the veterans who did not make it home and for those who still fight for our country giving us the privileges we so often take for granted.

Eric Jylha was the guest speaker and gave a brief history lesson.

A 21-gun salute and canon fire from the USS Edson closed this event with a bang. Visitors were then invited on board the ship for a tour.

It is a day to be grateful for this time we live in, and be hopeful for an even better future because of those who currently serve in the armed forces.
