River of Time Returns to River Front
Annual Event Presents Living Display of Michigan's History
August 21, 2005
By: Stephen Kent

The Bay County Historical Society's very popular
River of Time returns to Veteran's Memorial Park on the River Front September 24 and 25, 2005.
The popular event, with FREE ADMISSION, is a "Living History Encampment" designed to represent the entire time-line of Michigan History, from the early Native Americans and French fur traders right up to modern times. With historic re-enactors from many areas participating, this is one of the largest gatherings of its kind.
A number of professional impersonators and groups come to River of Time to represent historical figures. This year you can expect to see President and Mrs. Lincoln, General U.S. Grant, McFarland's Company, Father Marquette, Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest, and Gillmans Historic Puppets.
A new event this year will be a historic baseball game featuring the 1880's Bay City Independents.Played by the rules of the time, and dressed in period costumes, vintage baseball has become popular throughout the country.
An event of this size is an expensive undertaking. Many of the re-enactors are volunteers, but others are paid performers. The event is funded by the Historical Society through sponsorships, fund raisers, and donations at the gate. Anyone wishing to make contributions to the event may contact the Historical Society at the museum
Hosts for this year's event are:
- 42n Highland Regiment
- Sanford Brigage
- 5th Michigan
- 2005 River of Time Committee
