By: Trevor Keyes

Explore Michigan Shifting Gears, a career-transition program for experienced mid- and late-career professional talent who are looking for a road-map to their next great career opportunity.

Results are impressive. Following graduation, 49% of participants land new jobs within three months. 61% land positions within six months and 79% find work within nine or more months!

With facilitation by curriculum developers Sensei Change Associates, participants advance through three distinct "gears" during the three-month period.

1st Gear: "Re-Tool" focuses on career transitions into small businesses with in-class sessions and workshops centering on small business foundations.

2nd Gear:"ReInvent" includes a three-day small business simulation and an 80-hour pro-bono internship project with a small business.

3rd Gear:"ReLaunch" offers special networking opportunities, mock interviews and career advice from a mentor who has extensive contacts with innovative, growing companies.

Participants pay a registration fee of up to $575-- a small portion of the total cost of the program. The balance is underwritten by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation to foster talent enhancement.

Would you like to know if this innovative program is right for you? The first step is to participate in a free informational program overview/Q&A webinar session led by one of the program facilitators. And then imagine that you too, can have a more fulfilling career.
