Take a guy who believes in and supports his community and a Rescue Mission in need and you have a first annual event benefiting the Good Samaritan Rescue Mission with their Needs Drive.

Andrew Heppner, Owner of Populace Coffee located at Madison St. and Columbus Ave. in Bay City, MI, wanted to give back to the people in need in the community he shares. Thus, he staged a drop off point on Friday, March 21, 2014 for requested items for the Mission.

On board immediately was popular local restaurants Old City Hall and American Kitchen, who donated food for those coming in with bags of shampoo, toilet paper, toothbrushes, shaving items and more.

Joining in the effort was DJ Matt Rose, who provided music and a lively atmosphere, as well as Marcus Morgan, founder of FOLLOW, a movement offering faith based apparel for Christians and non-Christians alike.

Heppner remarked, "It's going good. About what I expected." He added, "I hope to do this annually and next year I would like to get more businesses involved."
