BCLS Seeks Readers for Prize Challenge
June 4, 2014

The Bay County Library System (BCLS) and its patrons have an opportunity to win big this month. eBook and eAudiobook provider, OverDrive, has challenged its member libraries to beat their highest checkout month to win credit toward the purchase of new online titles.
If patrons collectively borrow 5,055 OverDrive books through BCLS, the library will win $1,500 in OverDrive credit. For 6,066 check outs, the library will win a $2,500 credit! Books must be borrowed during the month of June from the OverDrive link on BCLS's website or through the OverDrive app with Bay County Library System marked as the lending library.
With Summer Reading Program beginning June 9 and vacation season at hand, eBooks and eAudiobooks are a smart way to take your reading on the road with you wherever you go.
If you're new to eBooks, you really should give them a try. Titles always return themselves, so you never have to worry about overdue fines. Also, eBooks have a special feature that eliminates the need for children to ask "what does this word mean?" If they are unsure of the meaning of any word, they simply touch the word and the definition pops up!
With nearly 1,000 children's titles available, in addition to the thousands of new and classic books for adults in almost every genre, there is definitely something for every reader in your household. You can start reading or listening on a multitude of devices including smart phones, computers and tablets. Don't worry if you've never tried it before. BCLS offers free device help every Tuesday from 3:00 to 4:00 pm at the Wirt Library Reference Desk in Bay City and there are simple instructions on
www.baycoountylibrary.org that will get you reading or listening in no time.
If you have any questions, call the Wirt Library Reference Desk at 989-893-9566 x2200. OverDrive eLibrary materials are only available to BCLS card holding members who reside in Bay County.
