In a world over-run with "paloozas", Mid-Michigan?s own Parkapalooza enjoys a decade- old reputation as one of the best. This year?s festival takes place Sunday, September 7, at Sanford Lake Park. The date is traditional, always on the Sunday after Labor Day and matched with Sanford' Founder's Days weekend.
For the uninitiated, Parkapalooza has a lot to offer. Foremost it is a music festival. Eight bands, representing a variety of musical genres, perform center stage on the beach.

But Parkapalooza is more than great music; it is full day of fun for the whole family. Activities include a climbing wall, woodcrafts, face painting, karaoke, a spray park, photo booth, and a sand-sculpting contest. There is also a place in the sun given for many other nonprofit and community groups to set up information booths. Great food, a huge silent auction, and surprises galore round out the event.
Parkapalooza is a fundraiser produced by the Dstreet Music Foundation and hosted by Midland County Parks. Financial support for is provided by The Joe Caudy Farm Bureau Agency, Merrill Institute, K&L Electric, The Great Lakes Loons, and Chemical Bank. The generous sponsorships allow all activities to be free and parking inside the park is just $6 a carload. Additional sponsors and supporters are welcome.
