There was good news and bad news this week at the Michigan Idol singing competition held at VNO's on Bay City's West Side.
The good news was that 10 aspiring singers took the stage in front of local judges with a musical background.
"Were off and running with a great turnout in singing talent," said event organizer Josh Sharrow.
Singer judged to be the best after 10 weeks of competition pockets $500.
The bad news . . . Oh Yeah . . . I almost forgot . . .
Judge "Hairball" John was in Simon Cowell mode during the course of the night. Surprising to some . . . because it was Hairballs birthday.
Contestant Nikki said that she appreciates the fact that this season's judges are a bit more honest. "I really like this group of judges," Nikki said. "They actually tell us what we need to work on, and how we can improve!"
Othe judges for this round of "Idol" at VNO's are Professional Rock & Roller Bruce LaFrance & last month's Idol winner -- Joe Gibson.
Bruce LaFrance was quick to defend Hairball Johns criticism of some of the singers.
"Contestants must remember that Michigan Idol is a talent contest first and foremost." Said LaFrance. "We are looking for the area's next big star. It's not just another Karaoke performance" Added LaFrance
The
Competition for the $500 cash prize is every Wednesday (8 Weeks to go) with warm-ups at 8:00pm and actual competition starts at 9:00pm

Terrible writing...
The good news was that 10 aspiring singers took the stage in front of local judges with a musical background....what was the music in the background???
"Were off and running with a great turnout in singing talent," said event organizer Josh Sharrow.....So Josh Sharrow wrote an article and actually quoted himself in the story???
