Lumber Barons' anchors the eastern edge of the Midland Street Historic District
Art Dore is ready to open the doors at
Lumber Barons' Charcoal Grill & Brew Pub. General Manager Alan Shoe says, "We are hoping to open within the next few weeks." Shoe says the restaurant will employ about 130, including five managers."
The Historic Building, formerly Hereford & Hops, and located on the East end of Midland Street on Bay City's West Side, will re-open in late December. The building was originally purchased in 1995 by Hereford & Hops and converted to a restaurant & brewpub.
Friday's VIP Night at Lumber Barons', was filled with excitement and anticipation as many local dignataries were welcomed by Floor Manager Liz Naples. Attendees got a sneak preview of what's in store for food lovers on Bay City'sMidland Street Historic West Side.
Former Bay City Mayor, Mike Buda had high praise for the new restaurant. "The food is fabulous!" Buda said.
Lumber Barons' Menu offers entrees From The Butcher Shop, Fish & Seafood, Soups & Salads,a Children's Menu and appetizers such as Escargot, Shrimp Cocktail, Wild Mushroom Bisque and much more. Gift certificates are also available and will be available for the upcoming Holiday.
Lumber Barons' has made many changes including the addition of the popular,
Martini and Cigar Bar, called "The Stables" and has become a favorite social gathering place for Lumber Barons' visitors. The Stables has many TVs and even a big screen viewing area.
Much of the unique decorating at Lumber Barons' has been done by Penny Warner of Banana Bay Imports who says "It's not quite done yet," Warner said, proudly. "We still have more to do."
Trisha Peters is the Banquet Manager. One of the banquet rooms overlooksthe Saginaw River with a beautiful view of the,
River of Lights . According to Peters, the banquet facility is the perfect setting for weddings, holiday parties and business conferences. Call Trisha at 891-0100 for reservations.

Buda exclaims, "Bay City needed this place; it's like the anchor of Historic Midland Street. Its great to see what Art did with the horse stables. The Stables are perfect forthe Cigar Room because it has the extra ventilation system that was needed for the stables. "
