New Dimensions, a Bay City vocational training center, recently received a $10,000 grant from the Leslie L. Squires Foundation.
Grant funds were used to improve the lighting in their production work area, allowing them to change from fluorescent lights to safer, and more energy efficient lighting.
The Production Department at New Dimensions is an essential part of vocational training as it provides paid work for adults with disabilities, helping to prepare trainees for future jobs in the community.
Production workers perform light assembly, document collating, and shrink-wrap jobs for customers in Bay County and the Great Lakes Bay area. New Dimensions has an excellent quality record with local businesses like F.P. Horak and Landaal Packaging, and continues to expand its customer base throughout southeast Michigan to companies like Bright Green and Quad Graphics.
The new lighting will not only reduce energy costs, but has also significantly brightened the work area, resulting in better quality of work.
