NOT AT WOODSTOCK

BAY CITY -- Local musicians are (bleep) over the recent Grammy adulation heaped on Sam (bleep) Smith on Monday night.

Smith, a 22-year old English singer and songwriter had a night to remember on Monday. Smith was nominated for six Grammy Awards, and won four: Best New Artist, "Stay with Me" for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and In the Lonely Hour for Best Pop Vocal Album

Recently the publishers for the song 'I Won't Back Down,' written in 1989 by Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne, contacted the publishers for 'Stay With Me,' written by Sam Smith, James Napier and William Phillips, about similarities heard in the melodies of the two compositions.

Sam Smith's people are quoted as saying . . ."Hey. That (bleep) sounds a lot like our song. You guys stole our (bleep) song," some lawyer yelled. "Tom Petty stole our (bleep)."

At the same time, local musicians were reportedly on edge.

"This is so much (bleep,), said Bay City's Carl "Wooly Booly" Scznegranski -- Lead Singer for the ever-so-popular rock band - Swollen Kielbasa. "I've been a Tom Petty fan forever . . . since Woodstock," said "Wooly Booly".

(Editor's Note: Tom Petty's 'Don't Back Down' was written and released in 1989 -- 3 years before Sam Smith was born. However, there are now pictures on the INTERNET that show Smith's pregnant mother at a 1980's Tom Petty concert)

(Editor's Note #2 -- Tom Petty did not play music at Woodstock. The EDITOR knows this because this Editor was actually at Woodstock . . . Why would this Editor lie?)

HERE'S THE PROBLEM . . .

"Any (bleep) that's ever listened to a (bleep) radio can see it the same (bleep) song," Scznegranski added.

Maya Wisciecinazak, group founder and lead vocalist for the locally famous, Underwater Tabernacle chimed in.

"(Bleep) him." said Wisciecinazak, more commonly known as 'SNAKE.' by her fans.

"So . . . what you're saying is that every Tom Petty song was actually written by this Sam Smith guy," an obviously confused 'SNAKE' asked angrily.

"(Bleep) (bleep) Tom Petty then for stealing (Bleep) Smith's music," SNAKE added. "You won't see me and my Tabernacle boys playin' any (bleep) Tom (bleep) Petty songs in the (bleep) future."

"(Bleep) Petty," SNAKE said, spitting into her spittoon. "In Mid-Michigan, we (bleep) take our (bleep) music seriously."

In a related story, Brian Williams reports that Bob Dylan has also sued Tom Petty for infringement on the Dylan's sound style.

"(Bleep) Tom Petty."(Bleep) him."(Bleep) him."(Bleep) him."(Bleep) him."(Bleep) him."(Bleep) him."(Bleep) him."(Bleep) him."(Bleep) him."(Bleep) him."(Bleep) him."(Bleep) him."(Bleep) him."(Bleep) him," Dylan is quoted as saying.
